Research and Planning - Ancillary task (Web Page)
The final Ancillary task - the web page - and we took heed from those around us. Artists of similar lineage, style and stucture to our own.
My use (or lack of) colour for my webpage is not especially representative of those around me - His Dizzee of Rascalness is very colourful, very in your face:
Take a look at the following these are of those in similar genre to my own:
www.dizzeerascal.co.uk - bright, professional. Exactly what mine isn't.
http://www.jamie-t.com/ dark, subversive, cultural. Exactly what I wish mine was.
http://the-streets.co.uk/ Another band we've been compared to. I like this - it has a very reminscent feel to it. Great stuff.
Im sorry this isn't as interactive as I'd like - my computer is a complete wally, and is refusing to allow me to printscreen, so I'm afraid you're going to have to find it yourselves. It's like a game. Woo.

Research and Planning 2 - Ancillary task
As we move to the Ancillary task's, I will go for the Magazine Advertisment, which is beatufilly and skillfully arranged by Ravnita, and overseen by me, as it took inspiration from numerous styles, with the Newspaper lettering remincisent of of the late '70s, and the rise (and inevitable fall) of Punk, of which the most famous of artworks is the Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks album, famously lexically arranged in that hostage style format.

In addition to that famous cover - the use of traditional Rock n Roll stereotypes - Marshall amps, empty beer bottles - these images are littered throughout music, and have since been used seriously, paraodically and post modernly by many artist hoping that their album stands above the rest. Heres a few for you that I liked:

Research and Planning: A nostalgic look at the bane of my life(Part 1 the main task)
As we stagger towards the inevitable end of this, most irritating of educational journeys, I am here to take you through one element of my course, that simply put,I should have done a lot earler. Research and Planning, I write it know, as my endeavours to create a time machine have not been as fruitful as I hoped, I must express my thoughts and feelings in some sort of reminicsent drawl suitable for it's own backward looking boxset.
Resarch:
As my main task took a very grimy, cheap, dirty take on modern pop conventions, the idea behind the research was themed appropriately. The artwork, (brilliantly designed by Rav) website were all meant to have a similar guise, and the artists that we researched were in short meant to have the same pikey style intentions as I.
In my video, there is a lot of running, a lot of chasing, involving me, and a group of suprisingly jolly hoodies - (seriously they were like elves that had been thrown through JJB) and this is reminicent of the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh's novel Trainspotting - famed for among many things, including the famous running scene where a sprightly(and heroin filled) Ewan Mcgregor runs. A lot.
Another example of the simple act of sprinting in movie format and musical one is Jamie T's song "Sticks and Stones" in a movie that shares a few scenes with my own(again the running, and a nice "Shameless" style council house party) In addition to this, the music between Mr T(haha) and my own band is similar in essence - rap of guitar with a sung chorus and indie style chordal and composition structure.
Check it out, here it is:
Obviously the musical elements took a great hold in terms of inspiration for my video, as the music dicates the thematic layers and style of the video.
So it's impossible to do rap nowadays in our style without being inexplicably linked to this man:
Now this is a live video, my apologies, I coudn't find a movie that represented my themes both visually as well as sonically - but here the remix of Nirvana's Grunge Classic "Smells Like Teen Spirit" mixed with Dizzee Rascal's own tune "Stand up tall" is great example of modern day Grime rap over classic heavy instrumentation.
