The band that I am in, The City Lightz, will be the basis for my main task : music video. I am going to blog about my influences, which in turn form the basis for the music and in turn the video itself.
My band is a mixture between rap, grime and and indie, and pop music. At its core its 4 skinny lads playing guitar, but when the par is added to the mix it gives the music a completely different dynamic.
I have enclosed a few songs I think are similar to the type of music that we play - and have a direct connection to our own music.

The connection is fairly easy to spot. The split between clean vocals on the chorus and the rap from about 1 :15 all with the brit - pop style, dirty indie guitar sound forming the musical backdrop that my band do something similar to.

This is perfect. The idea for my video, the style of my bands music, the attitude and style that i want to portray, as well as the way i want to portray it. I love the intro, and the close up camera angle in particular perfectly suits the tempo and mood of the song.

An absolute classic ska song and unbeatable video in terms of budget to message ratio, this I feel is closest to The City Lightz song Everything Changes. The upstrummed guitar and the inclusion of brass instruments is the some thing that my band has tried to incorporate.

If you follow this link and pick away, you will be able to losten to my band, make judgements for yourself. I think the three tunes prior draw significant connections to the mood I attempt to create behind the drum kit, in the studio and through the music. Enjoy! :)
